Fascinating Land Travel & Tours' Itinerary

Itinerary FLT 14 extension

FLT extension Tour - Overnight trekking in Shan State

Kalaw - Inle Lake (trekking) (one can also reverse the trekking from Inle to Kalaw)
Recommend for people who are used to trekking and in good physical shape)

Day 1. Kalaw - Taryaw - Ywapu
Day 2. Ywapu - Thitein
Day 3. Thitein - Indein - Inle Lake

Remark: We also can offer a bit more demanding 4-days trekking on a different, less touristic route from Kalaw to Inle with a more varied landscape.

Day 1. After early breakfast, check out from your hotel and start your trekking trip and walk to Taryaw Village (9 km - 3 hours) where the animist Palaung ethnic group is living in long-houses. You will pass tea- and orange plantations and other crops. Take a simple lunch at a place called View Point. Continue your trip for another 3 hours walk to Ywapu Village where you will stop for the night. Very basic overnight stay at a local house Simple dinner will be served.

Day 2. After an early traditional breakfast, continue your trekking trip and visit on the way Danu and Pa-O ethnic villages. All those villages are living on agriculture. Simple lunch will be served on the way. This day you will walk around 7 hours. Over night stay at Thitein Monastery. A very basic Dinner will be served.

Day 3. After a traditional breakfast, continue your trekking trip to Indein Pagoda Complex on the western shore of Inle Lake for another 3.5 hours walk. Lunch will be provided to you on the way. From Indein Creek, your private boat will fetch you and transfer you to your hotel.
Dinner on your own account.

Important remarks: The trekking is strenuous if one is not experienced. It is however no climb. The landscape is very attractive; you walk through areas that have not seen mass-tourism. We will transfer your main luggage by car to the Lake, so you need to carry light luggage for the 3 days only. Please bring warm clothes as it might be very cold during the night (minimum temperature can be 3 degrees Celsius in January, during the day it is warm with intense sun)
There are no mosquito nets provided, but during the cold season also not needed. There is no electricity!
The trekking is during dry season (November to March) advisable only as the grounds become very slippery during the rainy season (June to October). The trip during the rainy season is actually very interesting due to the different colours of plants and flowers but only recommended to experienced trekkers.
All meals during the tour are included. Please expect simple home cooking style, prepared by your trekking guide.

The porter(s) will be carry the bottled drinking water and provisions.
Very basic overnight stay at local houses or Monasteries is available to you; only providing mats on the floor and blankets to cover yourself. There is no comfort at all. Myanmar style "bathrooms" and "toilets" can be used. No hot shower available, please bring your own towels. The accommodation is not even at the level of a guesthouse.

E.g. Thitein village is already rather well visited by tourists. You may agree with your guide BEFORE departure if you prefer to sleep in different villages with likely less tourists around.
